Working Holiday Program in The Netherlands – Holland

The Netherlands (Holland) has a special agreement with Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Young people from these countries may come to the Netherlands(Holland) in order to enjoy the benefits of working during the holidays for a maximum of 1 year. Such situation is known as Working Holiday Program and can be used only once in a lifetime. Young people from the Netherlands(Dutch citizen) may also in their turn visit Australia, New Zealand and Canada with this purpose.

In order to come to the Netherlands (Holland) for a Working Holiday Program, young people from the mentioned countries will have to apply for MVV visa(temporary residence permit).

General requirements for the candidates:

  1. age between 18 and 30, but not older than 31;
  2. Canadian, New Zealand’s or Australian nationality;
  3. passport valid minimum for subsequent 15 months;
  4. health insurance valid within 12 months since coming to the Netherlands(Holland);
  5. return ticket or sufficient funds for it;
  6. working and studying must be the main purposes of coming to the Netherlands(Holland);
  7. sufficient funds to sponsor themselves: 3000 Australian dollars minimum(sometimes a strict amount is dependent from the discretion of related authorities);
  8. coming to the Netherlands (Holland) without the children;
  9. never used this program before.

With the residence permit "Working Holiday Makers” young people may work without a work permit (tewerkstellingvergunning). This means that they are not restricted by any rules, which may hinder a working process.

After 1 year, a maker of the program has to leave the Netherlands (Holland) unless he will change a purpose of stay and receive a new residence permit(not the same).
